Friday June 24, 2005
Arrival at the Royal Canadian Riding Academy- anytime on Friday
3:00PM -Trail Ride
6:00 PM – Reception and supper a the home of Bonnie Whaley and John Ross for Riders Only

Saturday June 25, 2005 THE BASICS OF GAIT
8:00 AM gates open to Auditors
9:00 AM (Clinic begins) Large group ground work:
What you can learn from our naked horse – conformation. Body position and gait
Ground Exercises for Flexibility and Back/Body Strength – neck and head lowering and stretching, back lifts. rotations, side passes
Equipment and Shoeing – keeping things natural and simple. What works, what doesn’t and why
12.00PM lunch and concessions
1:00PM Small Group Mounted Work
Gait Identification- feeling and seeing what your horse is doing
Finding the Best Seat for Your Horse’s Gait – the base, allowing, restricting and following seats
Developing Contact with Your Horses Mouth- talking to your horse with your fingers and hand position
Using Lateral and Diagonal Aids- guiding your horse with your whole body
Soling the Pace Problem – the neck stretching exercise, key to curing the pace and developing body strength
Basic Flexibility Exercises- Circles and curves- improving your horse’s responsiveness, toning his body to develop his gait
6:00PM Buffet Dinner with Lee at the RCRA

Sunday June 26, 2005 IMROVING YOUR HORSE’S GAIT

Exercises to Increase Stride Length – playing the scales, shoulder fore, haunches in
Exercises To Increase Flexibility – smaller circles. curves and spirals
Riding Smooth Transitions in Gait – using your seat for increasing speed. Rating speed, stopping

12:00 PM Lunch and concessions
1:00PM Longe Line Exercises to Help Gait – cavalettis, trot work and other ground strategies
The Canter – how to approach it, how to improve it
Further Trouble Shooting and Gait Practice
4:00 PM pack up and goodbyes
