Times: 10:00am
Contact: Tracy Bush
Cost: $25/auditor, booked by April 15th, 2006 -- $30/auditor, at the door
An invitation to a get-together for anyone interested in competing the mountain horse at breed horse shows in Ontario. We will present an overview of how to prepare and present your horse and yourself, judges’ expectations, conduct on the show grounds and in the ring and generally what to expect and how to be prepared. All of us involved in introducing the Mountain Horse to the show ring in Ontario the last few years have had a blast together. The response from organizers, spectators and fellow breed competitors has been nothing but positive and supportive. They love our horses! and we loved spending the day with them! If showing is a new venture for you and or your horse, we are hoping this one-day clinic will help you feel more comfortable and prepared. We interact in public as a group at these venues, all supporting one another – so there will be lots of help and support to those of you who are new and learning about the show ring.
Refreshments, sandwiches, beverages will be available at cost. If there are any topics not covered in this agenda you wished discussed please let Tracy know your suggestions.
OCTRA-Springfest: 13 mile Introductory Ride
Date: Sunday May 7, 2006
Location: Dufferin Forest, Mansfield, Ont.
Times: Vet: 7:00-am/Ride:9:00am
Contact: http://www.octra.on.ca
There are GHGO members who are interested in trying competitive trail rides just for the experience and fun of it. Some members will be attending the OCTRA Springfest and Introductory Rides, as well as several of the other shorter competitive rides, to learn and gain experience of longer trail rides with seasoned competitive riders. In preparation, several riders have purchased heart monitors for their horses and have had their saddles checked for a proper fit. It is interesting to note that the woman who came to show the use of the heart monitor was amazed at the already low, standing and gaiting heart rate of the Rocky Mountain and Tennessee Walking Pleasure horses that she checked - who had very little riding over the winter! Have fun everyone showing the versatility of our gaited horses. Please visit the OCTRA website for details and their complete calendar of events.

Visit Jennie’s web site http://www.walkinonranch.com/2005photos.html
During her first and only trip to Canada in 1998, Jennie judged 'The Canadian' Futurity. For those fortunate few who had time after 'The Futurity', Jennie conducted an impromptu clinic. The response was so positive that we have been trying to get her back to Canada. We have finally succeeded. Jennie Jackson has been hired to judge the Alberta Celebration AND to conduct a clinics in Western Canada. This summer she will be comeing to Ontario too.
Kim is orginizing a Versatility Clinic in support of her students continuining education in sports and events that they can do with their Tennessee Walking Horses. Kim is working with Jenny to provide this continuing education opportunity. This clinic will also be open to people who are not currently students of Kim. Don’t miss this opportunity to attend.
Jennie Jackson has never been one who stands on the sidelines allowing life to pass her by. She is passionate about her beliefs and never hides this passion. Jennie is perhaps best known as the owner and trainer of the big Tennessee Walking Horse champagne stallion; Champagne Watchout. Owning and training in themselves are not unusual, but what Jennie has accomplished with this horse is another matter. Wearing lite shoes, Champagne Watchout competed in the Tennessee Walking Horse 1999 Celebration against the traditional padded Show horses. Most thought it could never be done, but Jennie proved it could happen. In addition, during the same Celebration Watchout competed in other Plain Shod classes.
Jennie is well known as a strong competitor in all aspects of the gaited horse world. Jennie shows the same horse in English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, reining, trail and dressage and wins in each division. She has proven that one horse can do it all. Jennie and her horses exemplify the true meaning of Versatility. Jennie embraces a challenge and is not satisfied showing the same horse every year. Jennie starts a new horse, and her children compete with the seasoned ones.
Jennie's background is extensive. Her enthusiasm is infectious. Her knowledge is transferable. Jennie Jackson –is an exceptional woman both in and out of the show ring, now retired from public training, Jennie continues to add to the collective pot of horse training by releasing the first in the series of her training videos, THE HORSE’S MANUAL: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR HUMAN.
The Jennie Jackson clinic video provides a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of success in working with gaited Horses. Whether you are a trail rider, new TWH owner, or a seasoned competitor, Jennie can help you understand and 'get the gait'
A negative Coggins would be required plus an OEF membership. This clinic will fill up quickly. To insure you have a spot confirmed you clinc fee of $350.00 must be received by March 31, 2006
